Little bunny is holding steady.
He ate all his greens and is drinking water. He has loads of hay and seems stable. We get answers and treatment tomorrow.
I have to address an issue and, as I despise confrontation, please don't take it as such. I AM in contact with a rabbit rescue organization. I defer to them for his care. There's a lot of conflicting information as well as misinformation in comments. I understand that people just want to help because I don't have rabbit knowledge. That's why I contacted people that are experts. Just like treating for FIP!
PLEASE, if you are told something that contradicts what you did for an animal DON'T make it about you. It's not. It's about what's best for the animal. And remember that treatment 20 years ago may not even be advisable today! Vets used to declaw! Doctors told pregnant women to smoke so they wouldn't gain too much weight. People used lead based products for skincare.
What was done then isn't necessarily a good thing today.
Per the vet: do NOT put any kind of oil or treatment on Miguel! We don't know what we're dealing with yet. It could be a specific fungus OR it could be mites.
Per me: do not get snarky on this page. There's no reason for it. It's not about you. I am doing what I am told by people who do this every day. I follow their advise in this matter because they have the latest information.
If I lose followers over this, so be it. I am stressed beyond reason and pettiness has no place here. I have my cats with serious special needs and all the others but I CHOSE to save this poor rabbit so I listen to experts to do my best. Please, be civil and keep the best interests of him as the priority.
Now I did buy $50 of supplies for Miguel yesterday. I have $355 for him tomorrow. I hope it won't be that much! I will let ABC Clinic treat the mites/fungus. I have an appointment with my regular clinic on Monday. If his eye needs surgery (or closed up because it's not there) Dr Brust will do that.
I don't know how much money I need to raise for him. I will need more for sure if surgery is involved. But the cats require the same attention for their supplies and needs. I'm just 1 person trying to do my best for these throw aways. Don't call me a hero or miracle worker. I am neither. The miracle is the donations of funds or supplies that allow me to give them the best. So whether it's $5, $500, a bag of food, or a share YOU are the heros!
Thank you for making miracles possible.
Be pawsome! Do pawsome! This is the way.
