Tommi-girl has some kind of infection going on.
Her labs do NOT indicate FIP.
She's lost a pound. She got a steroid shot and will take Veraflox for 10 days. Steroids should help her appetite. She did eat some Temptations at the vet and I gave her a Churu here. She slurped it down.
She's also walking normally again.
If her appetite goes back down we'll do an appetite stimulant. If there's any regression in her walk or behavior we'll have to do labs again.
Yes, I panicked!
Her entire back end fell over and when she got up her back legs weren't moving right. It was worse than when Markus was first diagnosed.
FIP is NOT contagious.
Feline coronavirus is. Single cat households have about a 25% rate of coronavirus. Multi-cat households run around 80-90%. 5-10% of cats exposed can develop FIP if they are GENETICALLY predispositioned. But as I have no way of knowing who carries the gene when I see signs of FIP I will panic.
Tommi-girl will be watched carefully over the next week.
Thank you so much for the donations to get her checked.
It had to be done.
Hopefully she will be fine in a day or two.
Be pawsome! Do pawsome! This is the way.
