HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY, MARKUS!
From the moment I rescued him he was sick. Poor little guy was on antibiotics most of his life with URI and cruddy eyes. He would get better then get sick again. It was a fight to keep him well. Then, on September 30, 2022, my precious boy was diagnosed with one of the deadliest diseases a cat can have; FIP threatened to take him.
FIP is 100% fatal without a black market treatment and I began that same day. It was hell. Shots for 84 days that would be painful because of the acidic base. But it was to save his life. The emotional state it put me in was compounded by ignorance of comments made like, "You're giving him an unapproved medication from China?! What if it kills him?!"
FIP would have killed him anyway and it would have been a painful, horrible death!
Well, guess what, naysayers?!
HE LIVES! HE THRIVES! HE IS CURED!
Today we celebrate this little miracle warrior who defied the roughest start in life! We celebrate his first year and wish him 20 more years!
It is still bittersweet for me because Jessikat should be celebrating with him. My little neck muffin, my Goblin Warrior Princess. Eternally a 2 month old but it's still the day she was born, too. I celebrate her spirit and am thankful Markus has that same fight in him.
