06/12/2023 Dolly and Mistletoe Rescue Update

Updated: Dec 6, 2023

Thank you all for helping Poor Guy's Cat Rescue!

Every like, share, donation for them helps!

OK. Today was insane and ended up sucking really bad. I rescued an abandoned puppy by my son's house because I didn't want it getting eaten by coyotes. Yes. I rescued a DOG. She was the last of the 5 to get picked up or killed. A "breeder" did this.

Took her to Dr Brust to start shots, wormer, and flea treatment. She is a good little girl but she seriously needs her own home. I may reach out to the rescue that took Lafayette earlier this year. They have more canine resources. Her name is Dolly.

I had to get her settled fast and then rushed to my friend's house to pick up a cat that appeared out of nowhere. Little tiny Mistletoe. She came for help to leave. Her mouth was riddled with cancer and she had a golf ball sized tumor on her jaw. Osteosarcoma. Dr Floyd is off on Mondays but had switched days and came in the room after Dr Buenes had seen her. I really needed that. Not her opinion. Her hug.

Rescue is not glamorous. It tears out your soul. But things like this are part of the job. You can't save them all. Ending their suffering adds to yours. And I would do it again because it was the best I could give her.

She made biscuits for a minute and she told me with her eyes that she understood. I sang to her and told her Julie and I loved her. That she meant something to us and this world. And she was gone.

I saved 2 today but in very different ways. Dolly is adorable and will get a great home. Mistletoe is free of her pain.
